Red Baron

Flash fiction (very short story)

© 2023, Tanweer Dar

I saw the flash of red tear through the clouds. Before I knew it, he was behind me. I gritted my teeth and pulled hard, trying desperately to turn away from him. Wind smashed my face like a cold fist. I barely heard the gunfire, but I felt it...

I turned to see my tail disintegrate and the Red Baron, the scourge of all of our pilots, mere feet behind my biplane. I rolled left, as best as I could. The ground was too far beneath me. I would not make it.

This time, I heard the guns, and the world went black.
